2. What data we process

To provide taxi services, corporate cooperation and customer support, we may process the following categories of data:

From passengers

  • name and contact details;
  • phone number and, if needed, email address;
  • pickup and destination address;
  • geolocation data during an active order;
  • information about the selected payment method.

Payment card details are not stored on Smile Taxi servers. Payments are processed by a secure third-party payment provider such as Stripe or Banklink.

From drivers and partners

  • full name;
  • taxi driver registry number;
  • vehicle registration number;
  • work-time geolocation and ride performance information;
  • data needed for billing and cooperation administration.

3. Purposes and legal basis

  1. Contract performance — to accept an order, match the passenger with a driver and complete the ride.
  2. Legal obligation — to comply with requirements of the Road Transport Administration and other regulations related to ride records, accounting and safety.
  3. Legitimate interest — to resolve disputes, improve service quality, prevent fraud and protect customers, drivers and the platform.

4. Who may receive the data

  • Service users within an active order: the passenger sees the driver's name and vehicle details, while the driver receives the passenger's name and route information.
  • Service providers: hosting, payment, technical support and other contractors who work under contract and confidentiality obligations.
  • Public authorities: only upon an official and lawful request, for example from the police or the Latvian Road Transport Administration.

5. Confidentiality and non-disclosure

Smile Taxi is a controlled service environment. Drivers, passengers and partners are strictly prohibited from:

  • saving or copying other users' personal data outside what is necessary to fulfil an order;
  • creating or distributing screenshots that contain personal data;
  • publishing or sharing names, phone numbers, vehicle numbers or route details with third parties.

Violation of this rule may lead to immediate access restriction and, where required, referral to law enforcement authorities.

6. Data retention period

According to Latvian regulatory requirements, ride history including accepted, rejected and completed orders is stored for 5 years.

Data that is not subject to mandatory retention is deleted or anonymised once it is no longer needed for the original purpose.

7. Your GDPR rights

You have the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request erasure where mandatory retention rules allow it;
